Drawing With Vector Graphics Vector art are a type of computer graphics that are drawn by manipulating nodes on geometric shapes to form objects the artist wants to create. Think of it as a potter taking a block of clay and shaping it into a bowl or vase. Nodes can be added or deleted as needed. Vectors graphics have a small file size and they can be resized big or small without any loss of quality, making them the preferred choice of graphic designers creating artwork that needs to be scaled for products of varying sizes such as logos to be printed on items as small as business cards or as large as banner signs.
Typical file formats for vector graphics are EPS and SVG plus a few others that are specific to the software program they were made in such as Adobe Illustrator's AI format. Once the graphics are finished they can be exported in a high resolution format suitable for printing such as JPG and PNG. My vector art is made in a free program called Inkscape and saved as SVG, I then export them as PNG files that can be used to make prints of various sizes.
